Sabados

I usually prioritise Saturdays (or Sundays depending on commitments) for exercise. Especially now that the football/soccer season is starting to wrap up and I have more time on my hands from not coaching and playing. At the time of writing, I’ve burned 4455KJ according to my Apple Watch.

While I don’t have a specific ruleset on what exactly I do, my Saturdays ideally include a form of cardio training and some weights. Depending on where you are in the world, you may have heard of the morning 5k Parkruns. If I can’t make a Parkrun, I try to find a bit of time later on to go for a run, or quick bike ride. Up until recently, I did most of my weight training at home with my minimal collection of equipment, but I have recently joined the gym again and have been making it into an almost daily routine.

On weekend gym days I have a chance to spend a bit more time to lift heavier loads and get an adequate window of rest between sets (a subjective and debatable topic for another day), compared to weekdays where I keep it to 20-30 mins of short bursts and lighter loads.

In a future post I’ll probably go into more detail into what lifts I do, my health goals and so forth however I’ll keep it brief for now. I guess I just want to state for whoever that needs to see this, that it is important to dedicate some time through the week for self care in the form of exercise.
